Friday night was another night in a hotel. This night we were in Orlando and only 1 night is work related, the rest of the trip is a little family getaway for Memorial Day Weekend.
We went to bed late, mostly because I was at a Relay event for work, but also because Melia was really fussy. By the time she fell asleep I was exhausted. I woke up, like I always do, to Melia starting to fuss because she was hungry. I got up, picked her up and moved to a chair to feed her. It was then that I glanced at the clock and realized that it had been 7 HOURS since I put her to bed!!! I can't believe she finally slept through the night! And no, we have not started solids, switched to formula, given her Benadryl or anything else that people told us would get her to sleep through the night.
So Saturday night, we went to bed and were wondering if Friday night was just a fluke. She didn't sleep 7 hours, but she made it 6 hours. After months of very little sleep - 6 hours is AMAZING!!! If she can keep this up, I will be a new person! Then of course, she is in the beginning stages of teething, so this may not last long. I will enjoy the sleep where I can get it!

4 Month Check Up
Today was Melia's 4 month check up with the pediatrician. She weighs 12lb 3oz and is 23 1/2" long. She is in the 15th percentile for height and weight. Doc says her growth is very proportionate and she is doing great.
We have been having some eye boogers in one eye and an occasional crusty. The ped said it looks like a clogged tear duct. Very common in babies and something that should go away on its own in a few months.
She got round 2 of her immunizations today. She hasn't had any bad reactions. Last time she slept all day after her shots, today she didn't nap at all. We will go back next month for Rotovirus since we delayed that because of the GERD.
The reflux is getting much better, but of course she puked all over me today as I was leaving for work. The doctor said if we were comfortable we could start introducing solids. I am definitely going to wait until 6 months on this one. She is doing great nursing, and pumping at work has been going well so far. Everything I have read says there is no reason to rush solids, so we are taking our time.
She is developing a little personality and is really turning into a fun little baby. She is grabbing onto everything she can reach. She has rolled over a couple times, but it still shocks her when she does it. I love watching her develop into a little person, but can't believe it has been 4 months already!

Kentucky Derby Trip
We are currently in the car heading home from our first "family" vacation. I feel like we have been in the car forever, but Melia is handling it well.
We left last Thursday and drove to Atlanta to spend the night. We took Melia to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. Friday morning we woke up and visited Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia Aquarium before continuing our drive to Kentucky.
Saturday was the big day (the reason for the trip) - The 135th running of the Kentucky Derby. Because we had the baby we spent the money on the new Infield Club. It was a cold and damp day, but the Infield Club was very nice. The tents kept us dry and comfortable. Thank heaven for pumps - Mommy got to try a Mint Julep! Not my favorite drink, but the taste grows on you. We bet on our favorites, but didn't win a dime. Damn 50 to 1 Mine That Bird! Luckily, we aren't really into gambling, so I only lost $20.
Sunday after church we had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Louisville (we like HRC). Then we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. They were in the process of making the pink breast cancer bats for the players to use on Mothers Day. That was kind of cool to see. From there we headed to the Jim Beam Distillery, after all we were in bourbon country. No tastings on Sunday, but they do offer a short tour. Before heading back to the hotel for the night, we stopped at a local vineyard and winery. Chris and I love wine - and love to try locally made wines when we travel. I never by wine I haven't tried and don't by wine at retailers. We usually purchase a case when we visit a winery and those seem to last us until we visit somewhere else.
Monday morning we woke up and began our drive back to Atlanta. We stopped in Bowling Green, KY and toured the National Corvette Museum. The GM plant where the cars are made is next door, but you can't bring kids under the age of 7. Cool little museum, reminded me of Henry Ford Museum. We got into Atlanta, checked into the hotel and then headed to the Braves game. Chris and I also love sports, so we try to catch a game when we can in different towns. The Braves game was great experience and we got some fun pictures with Melia.
So now, we are back in the car, driving from Atlanta home. I will post pictures to our shutterfly website this week. It has been a fun little getaway!
