First Day of Corona School

Today was our first day of distance learning.  The girls have lessons from school and are all set up with Google Classroom for all subjects including Greek, PE, Music, Art and Gifted.  They have scheduled times for Zoom meetings and WebEx conferences.  It’s a little crazy, but kind of cool.  Its a big transition for all of us.  The girls need to have patience with Chris and I. We need to have patience with them.  I know their teachers have worked hard to get this all together and they have been thrown into this too.  But we survived Day 1.  Which is 16 days since we last had a day of school.  And today, the Governor announced the are extending the school shut down until May 1st.  Pray for us all!

Corona-cation Day 5

5 days into corona-cation.  Our stay-cation thanks to coronavirus.  Lots of talk about shelter in place orders and stay at home lock downs.  Right now its just spring break for the girls so mentally they aren’t feeling the stress like kids in other parts of the country and world are.  We’ve been enjoying board games every night, spending the days at the pool and just relaxing.  Makena and I love watching Josh Gad (voice of Olaf) read children’s stories to us each night on Twitter.  Plans are in place for virtual learning once we get back from our official spring break.  Then I think this will all start to set in for them.  For now I am just panicking on the inside so they don’t notice.

Our babies aren’t babies anymore!

It’s been 6 years since we’ve updated our Baby Webb Blog.  Due to the Covid-19 quarantine recommendations, I thought it would be a good idea to let the girls start recording their thoughts on what’s going on in the world around them.

So a quick update.

Melia is 11 and in 5th grade.  She is a level 4 gymnast and still loves to read.

Makena is 9 and in 3rd grade. Makena competes in judo, loves art, singing and dancing.

Our spring break vacation plans were cancelled due to coronavirus travel restrictions. We had a cruise booked out of San Juan Puerto Rico and received an email cancelling our cruise on our way to the airport Friday after school.  We decided to “staycation” in Orlando at Orange Lake Resort.

Spring Break was originally extended until March 27th.  It has now been extended until April 15th.  We are hoping to get more information on virtual learning options.  As of now all state wide testing will be cancelled.  I don’t think we will be going back to school physically this year at all.
