Melia's 2nd Birthday Party

A week late on the post, but some fun worth sharing!

Melia's 2nd birthday was a Sesame Street theme.  Melia LOVES Sesame Street - Elmo, Cookie and Big Bird are a few of her favorites.  Decorations were fun but simple.  I used a bunch of her Sesame Street books that we read EVERY night as centerpieces on the tables.  A couple Elmo balloons, and Elmo movie on the TV and everyone was happy!

Melia loved opening presents.  She got super excited over all her new baby dolls (which are all named Makena).

Daddy cooked yummy burgers with lots of toppings for everyone to enjoy.  The highlight of the day had to be the cakes.  Yes, cakes with an S.  Aunt Lisie (with some assistance from Faith, Hailee and Aunt Laura) made 4 cakes (all different flavors) and a tray of cupcakes.  The cupcakes looked like chocolate chip cookies for Cookie Monster to eat!

Hello Terrific Twos!

Our baby girl turned 2 today.  Well, techinically tonight.  I can't believe how much she has changed our lives over the past two years.  I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

24 month pediatrician appointment is tomorrow, so I will update on height, weight, etc... then.  Her hair is starting to get long.  To the point that if I don't pull it up it hangs in her eyes.  A big change from still being practically bald a year ago!  She is a very active and energetic little girl.  Melia speaks really well for her age and is learning new words and phrases daily.  She loves to dance and sing.

We are having dinner and cake tonight at Grammy's house to celebrate.  Her birthday party is on Sunday with family and friends.  I sent muffins to daycare this morning so the class could celebrate with her.  I just couldn't send cupcakes.  I am going to let her have cake tonight and on Sunday, but I really try to not shove sugar and junk food down her throat.

Grammy has been teaching her to hold up her fingers and let everyone know that she is "2".  We have been working on "Happy Birthday".  It currently sounds like "Happy Birdie", which is pretty darn cute!

Happy 2011!

The Webb Family decided to spend the long New Year's Weekend checking an item off of our "bucket list".  We headed to Los Angeles to take in the festivities of the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game.

It is a long flight from Tampa to LAX, but the girls did great.  Grammy joined us on the trip and got her first taste of flying with 2 under 2!  We arrived late Thursday evening and checked into our hotel, the Hilton Universal City at Universal Studios Hollywood.  On Friday we took a sightseeing tour of Los Angeles, including Hollyood and Beverly Hills.

We enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner at Samba Brazilian Steakhouse at Universal City Walk.  The food was great and we even got a little show!

We went back to the hotel and watched the ball in Times Square drop on tv.  Melia enjoyed yelling "Happy New New!" before we all went to bed.

We awoke bright and early (4AM!) on New Year's Day to head down to the Rose Parade.  We had grandstand seats that provided a great view of the floats.  They are even more amazing in person!  Melia went back to the hotel with Grammy and Makena headed with Chris and I to the game.  TCU beat Wisconsin 21 to 19.

Sunday after church we all headed back to the airport for the long flight home.  Both girls did well on the plane, except during descent.  We were all congested and the pressure was pretty rough on the ears.  After a little TLC and some Tylenol, everyone was happy again.

We are looking forward to a healthy and happy 2011!
