Blog Worthy

I was chatting with a friend this weekend, who is an avid blogger, and made a comment that having a new baby is taking time away from his blog. He tried to say that he didn't really have anything "blog worthy" to post. I explained to him that when you have kids, everything is blog worthy. Blogging about my daughter keeps me sane (most of the time). Plus it is a great way to share her daily life with family and friends that are far away. Of course, Chris thinks sometimes I share too much info on the blog. My thought is, you read what you want.

So here is my "blog worthy" moment of the day:

I buy Melia dried fruit for snacks. She loves them and they are good for her. Today, however, she decided to stick a dried piece of strawberry up her nose. Once she stuck it in there, she continued to rub her nose (I assume it was uncomfortable) and jam it even farther up her nostril. It was WAY out of reach.

I tried not to panic. I knew that the dried fruit pieces dissolved really easily when they got wet, so maybe the moisture in her nasal passage would help it dissolve? I tried to rub my finger downward along the outside of her nose, but nothing moved. I thought for a second about tweezers, but remember reading somewhere why that was a bad idea. She was starting to fuss so I am sure at this point it was painful. We threw her in the tub to start steaming up her nose. I dumped some warm water on her head and continued to massage downward on the outside of her nose. At this point, I was becoming a little worried and sent Chris to call the Pediatrician. Of course, as soon as he got the number and the phone, the strawberry piece had loosened up enough and fell out into the tub. Crisis averted!

I posted a note to my parent friends on Facebook that dried strawberries don't belong in toddler noses. Within a half hour I got responses from friends about Play-Doh, Cheerios, Crayons, etc... I feel much better about my parenting skills now!

So, was that blog worthy?

8 weeks, 6 days

Yesterday was my first OB visit. Nothing overly exciting, just a typical exam. I finally got my H1N1 shot (now that I am in the "recommended" category!). All of my bloodwork came back great.

Based on my history with Melia, I am not automatically considered high risk, but they will do some extra monitoring. This makes me feel much better. The monitoring always reassured me with Melia.

Since she was a c-section, they will schedule a C/S with Baby #2. They said they are usually scheduled around 39 weeks. We confirmed a 9/29 due date, so a September baby it will be!

We go back in 2 weeks and will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. Then back the week after that for the Nuchal Translucency test. After that we should be on the every 4 weeks schedule.

It is finally starting to feel real! I can't wait for our appointment on March 9th!

Baby Webb #1 Update

Melia had an appointment with the Ped today for her 2nd dose of H1N1. Since we were already coming in, we reviewed her developmental screening results with the doctor. We wasn't overly concerned about the hearing test or speech. He said that she is right where she should be with words and as long as she continues to progress there is nothing to worry about. He checked her ears and cleaned a little wax out. He said sometimes the tests come back as failed when the baby doesn't hold still - Melia never holds still. Again, he will keep an eye on her hearing, but no big concerns.

She weighs 19lbs 5oz. The top end of 9 month clothes, which we have already started to phase out. Still not enough for the next step car seat, so she will remain in the infant carrier.

Melia started baby gymnastics when she turned one. Aunt Lisie got her a gift certificate for Christmas and her Birthday to get her started. She loves the class. There are obstacle courses, lots of things to jump on, slides, a sponge pit and lots more. Melia has great upper body strength and the teacher is really impressed with the way she has improved over the past 6 weeks. I am glad to see improvements as well. She is so smart!

Melia got pictures taken with Grammy last week. And a few valentines shots as well. I will post them on Webbsyght soon. Next month, pictures with the Easter Bunny!

So Big!

Melia is getting so big. Unfortunately, she is still not big enough to fit in the new jammies I bought her. I bought the smallest size they make. I just couldn't resist! Hopefully she will grow into them by the end of September!
