AC Kids of Seminole

Three weeks ago we received a letter when we picked Melia up from daycare saying that they would be shutting their doors on Feb 11th.  Last spring St Dunstan's changed management and hired a new director.  Things have been going downhill there ever since.  It was probably the kick in the fanny we really needed to find a better daycare option.

Finding a good daycare isn't an easy thing to do.  It is even harder when you have two kids - especially an infant.  A lot of places had openings for one girl but not the other.  Makena won't start daycare until Chris goes back to work next month, but I wanted to find a place where I could take both girls.

We decided on AC Kids of Seminole.  Their owner was really nice and helpful.  The center is clean and all of the kids seem happy there.  Of course Chris did his own background checking through his sources.  The center is a little farther from the house, but on my way to the office.

This past week I was dropping Melia off every day at school.  Normally Chris has been the drop off parent and I did the pick ups.  But because of the location of the new school, it will be easier if I take care of drop offs.  Melia has never handled being dropped off by me, she has no problems with Chris taking her, but always gets clingy when I leave.  After a few days of our new routine, she was doing great.  Kisses, a high five and a "see you later Mommy"!

So today was her first day at the new school.  Keeping with our new "routine" I dropped her off this morning.  She must have the same first day jitters as mommy because she was not a happy camper when I left her there this morning.  She seemed happy when I picked her up this afternoon, and her daily report showed she ate, played and napped well.  They had a Valentine's Day party and she came home with lots of treats.  I will chat with her regular teacher tomorrow morning for the full report, but so far so good!~

Of course, by the time Melia is all settled in at her new school, it will be Makena's turn to be dropped off.  I am sure Makena will handle it just fine, but Mommy is already having first day jitters. :)

4 Month Check Up!

Makena's 4 month check up was on Tuesday, Feb. 1st.  She is still gaining like a champ and weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds 5.1 ounces!  She is getting tall too at 23 and 8/10 inches!

Makena is a healthy and happy little baby.  She has started rolling from her tummy to her back and is working on going from back to tummy (she gets stuck on her side).  She loves to "talk" and has an amazing smile.

We are moving into the teething stage.  Everything near the mouth gets put in there and chomped on.  And this girl can drool!  She hasn't shown a lot of discomfort yet, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Makena got her second round of shots, but tolerated it pretty well.

She is doing better with tummy time (probably because she can flip herself onto her back!) and loves checking herself out in the mirror!
