Lowry Park Zoo

We love to take the girls to the zoo.  We are lucky to live not far from Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo.  The Zoo has been ranked #1 family zoo by Parents Magazine for years.  It is very well maintained and has a great kids area.  They have fun events all year long, including a Fisher Price Family Weekend held each fall.  (we are looking forward to going in September!).

For Makena's baptism, Chris' mom bought us an annual Zoo Pass. (AWESOME GIFT!!!!) We take full advantage of it and go at least every few weeks.  We head to a different part of the zoo each visit.  The merry-go-round gets a visit on every trip!  We just spend a few hours each time.  Enough to see some different animals, shows, exhibits, etc... and then get home for naptime.  Makena gets sooo excited about the birds!

Melia is learning a lot about different animals, even the exotic ones.  One of her favorites to visit is the giraffes.  Not sure what it is, but she loves them.  She loved the Giraffe Ranch Farm that we went to in April and loves to feed the giraffes at the zoo.

Tonight I made yummy lettuce wraps for dinner.  As I set them down on the table Melia told me "we can't eat that".  I told her, "yes we can, its our dinner".  She replied, "No, its giraffe food!".  I guess we are getting good use out of our zoo pass if she can tell me at dinner time that the romaine lettuce is for the giraffes!
